Atelje Galerija opened its doors in 1998 in the picturesque building at Gallusovo nabrežje 29, Ljubljana, where it is still present today. The concept of the gallery is based on the presentation of artists working in the field of contemporary visual arts and on the positioning of artwork in space in such a way as to improve and refine it. The gallery’s owner, an architect with experience in art and spatial design, demonstrates the above concept by staging creative, original exhibitions in and outside the gallery. Each year, the gallery prepares four to five art exhibitions. Some of the acclaimed exhibitions staged outside the gallery include Leon Zakrajšek’s 2011 exhibition in the Art Channel Gallery in Beijing, China and the exhibition by Marko Jakše and Iva Tratnik at the Ljubljana Castle in the same year. Our aim is to promote contemporary visual art on the market, establishing young artists and inter-gallery cooperation and integration in the Slovenian and international environment.
