RECORDS WRITTEN IN THREADS
10. November 2005
Nitni zapisi (Records Written in Threads) is the title of the exhibition of textile objects by Anda Klančič, which features personal, creative records of unarticulated thoughts or textile drawings levitating in the air, expecting to be intercepted and taken away. At the same time, these records are spatial objects, in which it is easy to notice the typical transparency and airiness of spatial interventions that the artist develops with a great measure of sensitivity.
Records Written in Threads derives from a clearly devised concept, from memories and nature, and is supported by various materials and techniques of execution. Exploring and delving into the characteristics of the textile medium, the characteristics of threads and fibres, are connected through discovering guiding principles, and they open completely new communication opportunities. Proceeding from the principles of airy lace, a rare and unknown technique, led the artist to discover the new, incredible dimension of thread formations in space.
Considering that only a few artists in Slovenia engage in modern textile art, it is not surprising that Klančič, the winner of distinguished awards, is better known outside Slovenia, with her works having been included in nearly all selected expert exhibitions around the globe over the past ten years.
