IRON AND CONCRETE

The basic form that has distinctively characterized Primož Pugelj’s works in recent years is the stylized human face depicted in the shape of a mask. He creates masks of various sizes, from various materials, using various techniques. He presents them as individual works or series composed of several units. To enhance narrativity, he paints the masks or modifies them graphically. Pugelj’s art is a continuity of reactions to developments in modern society, which is why his projects and exhibitions carry a distinctly socially critical note. His latest exhibition at Atelje Galerijia features three of his most recent sculptures. The exhibition title itself reveals the material the artist uses and is known for.
