A WALK IN A DESERT

14. January 2013

The exhibition A Walk in a Desert at Atelje Galerija features the latest works by the Slovenian artist and glass designer Tanja Pak, made from Bullseye Glass. They were created after Pak’s first encounter with a desert while exhibiting her works in the US.
Traces of the desert can be felt in the earth tones, layers, and erosion, which Pak expresses inside square objects. The continuity of their idea points to the horizon, drawing attention to the sensation of silence, which in turn allows the viewer to clearly see the floating sculptures (i.e., clouds) in the middle of the gallery. Hence, this entails two contrasting thoughts: one that reminds us of the power and eternity of matter, and one that reminds us of its disappearance (or the state of mind).
